For those planning a staycation in Copenhagen, and who wouldn’t, then plan a visit to GL STRAND and Nikolaj Kunsthal where the current showing of Leonard Cohen: A Crack in Everything has been extended until 2nd. August.
This impressive celebration of Leonard Cohen’s life and work is the result of a project by Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal that brings together an array of visual and audio installations that draws you into Cohen’s universe. Both locations work wonderfully well, balancing between GL STRANDs small-scale audio and multi-screen montages with Nikolaj Kunsthals large-scale screens depicting highlights of Cohen’s concerts since the 1960’s.
The singer, song writer, writer and poet who enjoyed a loyal following in Scandinavia was more than a troubadour. He was an inspiration for a generation of musicians, which comes home perfectly in the installation Listening to Leonard, where a host of artists perform Cohen’s songs.
Its rare to visit an ensemble of installations focusing on a unique artist, where for a moment one can digest his range of works spanning 5 decades.
In a world dogged with chaos, take an afternoon in central Copenhagen and immerse yourself in the universe of the man with the golden voice.
