My walks down Gammel Mønt usually ends around the corner of Christian IX Gade, but not anymore. A wander down the adjoining Vognmagergade and a pleasant surprise a beckons, Han Kjøbenhavn. Copenhagen is blessed with an array of unique retail spaces, but for me, the one that has caught my eye, is the mens retail store, Han Kjøbenhavn. The aesthetic inspiration is not hard to find, nor disguised. The interior has references from Denmarks´s golden era of furniture design, which also reflects in the collaborations with the likes of Fritz Hansen. The guiding lights behind this project, Tim Hannock and Jannick Davidsen started their adventure back in 2008 focusing mainly on eyewear, which has happily grown into this haven for minimalistic menswear. The brand is now proudly represented in New York on Prince Street and further plans for Toyko and Paris are in the pipeline. Any visit to this wonderful retail space are further enriched by the knowledgable and engaging service, normally, unfortunately a rare experience in this city, but not at Han Kjøbenhavn. Visit Vognmagergade 7 and take in the atmosphere and craftsmanship, both on and around the racks.
